Healthy Eats: Crunchy Bowl

If you follow me on instagram, you probably already know that I just turned vegan. It's been quiet a few failed for past couple months, but I finally set up my mind and decided to go vegan. It's been a week so far and my body is just loving it. Gonna write a blogpost on to more in depth about it.

Since I started vegan, I discover a lot of vegan community out there and I just love when they post vegan food and recipes. They helps give me some ideas to come up with more food varieties since vegan is a new thing to me. And I love food, so I love to keep my food very interesting so I won't get bored of the same meal everyday.
I also find that I tend to be more creative with my breakfast because I have more time to prepare and basically breakfast is just my favorite meal of the day.

Ingredients:
- 2 large bananas
- Homemade granola, recipe here
- Desiccated coconut
- Coconut flakes
- Puffed quinoa
- Sunflower seeds
- Almond flakes
- Goji berries
- Soy milk

What you need to do is basically cut up the bananas, place it in the bowl, then dump the rest of the ingredients. Of course like every other recipes, you can substitute any of the ingredients and put your own spin based on your own liking.
Thanks Essena for the breakfast idea, totally loving it.

Healthy Eats: Vegan Lemon Cake

Last week, I ate one of the amazing lemon cake in a coffee shop which I'm sure it's full of sugar and all those yummy evil. Of course most of the time I can't expect of eating out with the most healthy food all the time. Then it got me thinking maybe I can make it myself in some kinda of healthy twist. When I mention "vegan", a lot of people have been wondering if I'm going vegan because I have been posting quiet a few vegan food. And the answer is "Yes, I am" But I'm still in progress and not ready to be 100% vegan. There are some times when I couldn't find vegan restaurant anywhere and ended up eating meat.

Long story short, I'm still in the progress of going vegan. Probably most of my meal I'd say 90% of them are vegan. I'm not on my way working on going fully vegan. Probably when I'm fully ready, I'll share my story and thoughts on that. I also have been trying making a lot of vegan food myself. I'm definitely enjoying it.

Okay, back to the lemon cake.
It's super simple and easy which only required a few ingredients.

What you need:
- Flour (I used buckwheat flour)
- Baking powder
- Flax seed
- 2 apples
- Cinnamon
- 2 lemons
- Date syrups
- dash of Soy milk

Direction:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C
- First thing to do is to puree 2 apples by blend them in the food processor/ blender.
- Then, grate 2 lemons (which I don't have and I ended up cut the skin into small chunks).
- Mix the flax seed with some water
- After messy part done, mix the dry ingredients ( flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and grated lemon zest) in a mixing bowl.
- In another mixing bowl, mix the wet ingredients (apple puree, flax seeds, date syrup squeeze of 1 lemon).
- Then mix wet and dry ingredients together.
- While mixing, add the soy milk into the mixture and combine well.
- Transfer the mixture in a baking tin line with parchment paper.
- Bake for 40 mins or until toothpick insert comes out clean.
- Let it cool for at least 20 mins before cutting it.
- Enjoy

For the drizzle, which I was totally forgot to do, basically combine coconut sugar with lemon juice and drizzle on to the cake while the cake still hot.
Tip : Poke a few hole on the cake to allow the lemon juice to drip into the cake.

Any suggestion for next healthy eats?

Love Lately #2

DISCOVER.  This time I think I would like to start with the new discover that I never thought I ever exist. It's the rawtill4 lifestyle. Basically if you don't know what it is, basically is eating raw food (fruits and veges) until 4pm in the afternoon. Probably not that strictly, not it does mean that you only allow to raw food for breakfast and lunch. It's the lifestyle founded by Freelee the Banana Girl who eat plant based diet lives in Australia. She is amazing, great and inspiring. I was totally blown away with this lifestyle and I myself has tried it for couple of days ended up loving it. Although I'm not ready to committed to go for this lifestyle, and instead I'm trying to eat more plant based food. With no joke, my body and my skin definitely loving it. I'll try to speak about it in the future blogpost.

WEAR.  I have been loving this phone case which I got in a random stall at Orchard and it was pretty cheap like S$3. I'm absolutely loving it. It has like water with some sprinkle inside and it can moves ups and downs which is very interesting to watch. Sometimes when I'm feeling boring, I just play with my phone case and stared at it for couple minutes. My friend even told me once that I had a mental problem. Hah! That's that.

WATCH.  Last week I got a chance to go to the cinema and watch Fast 7 which I have been waiting so long for it. I am a die hard fan of Fast and Furious. I watched it from the beginning of the film. And this time for Fast 7 tribute for Paul Walker, I am not going to miss it for any reasons. The movie was so well made and it also quiet heartbreaking towards the end. There were some tears going on. Not to mention the song playing at the end of the ride "See you again", I've been playing it on repeat.

LIFE.  It was my 22nd birthday last week and there are some surprise that I'm definitely did not expect. I'm so blessed with the people around me. I have the best amazing families and friends around the world. Words couldn't describe my thankfulness and how grateful I am to have you guys in my life. Thanks again for all the wishes. I definitely have a blast!

Fashion Diary : Sheer Spring Dress + LBD Spring Style Challenge

Spring is officially here, which I know most of people are definitely excited for. On the other hand in Singapore here, we basically have humid hot weather all year long. But the thing that got me most excited are all the spring collection clothing, those crop top, sheer top, shorts, and tons of other fabulous jewelry in store.

I was not ready to give up my black clothes so I decided to pair them with my favorite pink sheer Marlyn Monroe scarf and wore it as a skirt instead. I love scarf, it is so versatile, can be worn in so many different ways. I think it's a good combination for spring little black dress style.

What I'm wearing:
Top: Forever 21
Skirt : H&M
Shoes : Cotton On
Scarf : Thrifted
Necklace : Gifted

On the other note, I am so glad when dailylook invite me to be part of their LBD Spring Style Challenge. I think it's the way for me to be able to put together outfit that express my sense of style at the moment. So, I think here is my take on this challenge.
When I think of Spring, my first thought will be spring break, camping, road trips, and all other fun activities. In my mind, when it comes to outfit for spring, I will immediately think of light, breezy, thin, and most importantly breathable material.

LBD.  Black is not plain or boring for spring when it's the right texture, pattern, and material. Light thin maxi dress are on point on this as it looks classy, dressed up and most importantly comfortable. You know how I felt about comfy!
Shoes.  I love me some heights, but of course comfort is a must. Platform sandal is a perfect way to go.
Bag.  For me long swing tassel bag is my go to as long as it's big enough to stuff in my essential.
Necklace.  Oh hey! Nothing beats statement necklace. It's just enough to spice up any outfit. Three curves and silver toned just make it more interesting.
Jacket.  It might get chilly somewhere at night or inside the mall. Color are just the way to add some pop of without looking like a walking crayon. I chose this feminine subtle pink to soften up the cool edgy look from the dress.
Sunglasses.  I just can't leave the house without shades these days.
Body Jewels. It seems to be a hit nowadays to apply flash tattoos on the body. I think it's just to play and perhaps play some all over my body. I'm thinking to place the arrow above my eyebrows. It'll be so cool.
Rings. I love stacking ring, like statement rings, dainty rings, even midi ring. I like to mix and match different color tones.

Overall look, it's the complete outfit I would wear to roadtrip, camping maybe while chilling on the beach. Totally spring appropriate!

Many thanks to Dailylook to give me chance to take part in this challenge. It's fun and creative. You guys should go and create your own style board too and show me your style! It's like playing dressing up.

Introducing Following Heart

Following Heart is a little segment where I spend a couple hours thinking, typing and sharing all my thoughts, perspective, and maybe some experiences in life. I believe everyone's life is not 100% perfect. Life is just like a roller coaster, there ups and downs and that's what make it excited.

It's easy sometimes to get stuck in busy life and and find yourself get too overflow with works or other matter that might bothering you.  People said "You can't have better tomorrow if you can't stop thinking and worrying about yesterday", which is so true. Sometimes it's just a need of stop and refresh button i order for you to get a new mind to face what upon you.

One of my new year resolution this year is to go outside more often, exploring the world, see the world, interact with other living creatures, connecting myself to the nature where I came from and belong to. The world is big, too big to explore everywhere and satisfied my curiosity. I find myself easily got lost and trapped with life, feeling unmotivated and getting outside and being contact with nature really helps me getting through my rough time. Breath the nature air, feel the wind, see the nature. It all brings me joy.

I believes everyone's eyes are different. We see, feel and experience things differently. Your eyes can be a lens where see the world that others might even see. Be adventurous, be creative, be spectacular. I personally like to see the world in many ways, through my eyes, my ear, my nose, and every sense in my body. See them, feel them, capture them. Your camera may project anther different kind of perspective.

Be adventurous, be curious, be fearless! The world are there for us to explore. Don't waste any of your time, make every second of your life counts, build yourself. Find your true self within you. It's inside there somewhere, you just have to find it. It can be anything, new friends, new activities, new hobby, new experiences.

I'm still working my way through it, and if you are also, then we're in this together.
Let me know your experience in the comment and we can share all our experiences together.

Fashion Diary : Black jumpsuit (Now & Then)

Long time I haven't post any fashion diary, kinda miss it so I think I would love to get back in the bond wagen.

Last year I bought a black jumpsuit and If you follow me on instagram, you will probably already saw it on many of my previous post. I have been eyeing for it,  I'm so happy when I bought this jumpsuit, it's the right cut, the right length, and it fits me so well. It took me so long to find the perfect jumpsuit since I'm quiet short and most jumpsuit are like wiping on the floor.

I think black jumpsuit are just like LBD, it's the one staple item you need to have on your wardrobe. It can be worn casual or formal wear. It all depends on how you decide to style them with.

It the exact same outfit but with different outtake.
I wore it first time round out for tea with my girlfriend and I decided to wore my La Senza bra to accessorize with some sparkles, It added some elegant touches and some extra back details. Since my hair was still long, I decided to do a plaid/braid to finish off the look.
Second time around I was attending my colleagues's wedding, and I decided to wear it again (who said you can't wear some outfit twice). I go with plain black jumpsuit and bring my little sling Ralph Lauren bag to keep my essential.

What I'm wearing:
Jumpsuit : The Editors Market
Shoes :The Editors Market
Bag : Ralph Lauren

I'll be wearing this for more casual way. Care to see?

NOTW: Pastel Pink

My friend just came back from her holiday from HongKong and she brought back some beauty product (she knows me well). I'm so excited because she got me some 3CE makeup item which I never tried before.

One of it is this gorgeous pastel pink nail varnish. The color itself are totally right on my alley, packaging is the bomb, sophisticated, the the applicator are wide and easy to apply. The formula is quiet good which took me 2 coat mostly and it's dry pretty fast. Totally loving it. I'm interested on trying more products from 3CE makeup brand.

How was your easter weekend?

Love Lately #1

Love Lately, things I've been loving usually in weekly kinda stuff. Basically just round up of all the things I've been doing and enjoying this week.

WEAR.  Since my hair is quiet short now, I'm kinda tired of the whole toss messy hair kinda look. I realize having messy hair on bare face is not a good combination at all when my friend commented that I just look like I just rolled out of my bed (in a bad way though). So I have been putting a some extra seconds to my hair by putting it in braids and add some curls. It looks much more put together and can be worn both feminine and edgy. Tutorial coming soon.

MAKE.  I have been loving eating pancake recently especially when I know how to make vegan, gluten free, refined sugar free, and totally guilt free version. (recipe here). It tasted so good and for the past weeks I have been eating them quiet constantly. Now I have been thinking of different kinda way to make it more interesting.

WATCH.  Last week I went to the movie and watched "Insurgent" (watch trailer here). It's the second installment from the film Divergent to continuing the journey of Tris and Four after running from Erudite. The second film was so good, I prefer it more than the first one, more action, more climax and more fighting. One thing I wanna mention though is the fact I adore Shailene Woodley with her hair short so much. She looks stunning, not to mention her tone fit body. The entire film, I was looking at her body wishing to get those back muscle.

DISCOVER.  I have quiet pretty busy this week but I did manage to slot in my time for some relaxation time by visiting the beach. I went to the "Punggol Waterway Park" since it's just close by my jobsite. I think I love beach more day anything. I just love the mixing sound and smell both water and wind. Walking by the beach by the sunrise/ sunset just the most calming thing I have ever experience. Just letting all the the stress go. Sometimes I bike along the sea and enjoy some fresh air.

Finally, having a nice Easter and enjoy the weekend!

Healthy Eats : Homemade Granola

I like granola but sometimes it can be quite overpriced with the fact that it's super easy to just make it at home with a few simple ingredients. When I said easy, it mean it! It probably takes only 5 mins or less to prepare, the rest of time is just to wait (maybe some stirring needed).

You'll need:
- 5 cups of rolled oats
- 1 cups of coconut oil
- 2 cups of honey
- 1 cups of goji berries
- handful of crushed almond
- lots of cinnamon

Direction:
- Preheat the oven on 200°C
- Melt the coconut oil and combine honey, cinnamon all together.
- Slowly stir in the rolled oats and almonds in and mix them until well combined.
- Line the baking tray with parchment paper.
- Spread the mixture all in thin layer.
- Bake them for 20 mins.
- Every 5 mins, take the tray out and stir it occasionally so the granola won't get burnt.
- After finished, add in goji berries and stir all to combine and let them cool for 10 mins .
- After it gets crispy and yummy, put into nice looking jars, and maybe spoon some into your mouth. (like me)

I love granola. It's really great to add in my morning smoothies, oats bowl, with milk or sometimes just to snack them throughout the day. I love to make them in bunch on Sunday afternoon.

I love baking and cooking, so most of my Sunday usually will include either one of them.
My Sunday well spent.

Healthy Eats : On the Go Salad in a Cup

Ever since I spent my day mostly running job site, out foe meeting, and running errands, my eating time schedule has gone crazy. It's so unpredictable that I found myself eating too late, too early, even sometimes even skipped a meal. It's just the fact that work caught up on me or sometimes I'm on the go and I can't found myself any restaurant serves vegan food at all.

When I watched Megan Rienks's youtube video, I just hit me why I didn't even think about that before. It's so smart the fact that you can bring your salad on the go. Salad is meant to be eaten cool so definitely perfect and you don't have to bother about re-heating anything.

The best part is you put anything that you like and make it as healthy as you can. Personally I wouldn't combine my dressing together with the vegetable as it might make them quite soggy. So, I usually put it in another container and when I'm ready to eat, just pour them in, give a little shake,a little stir, and they'll be nice and coated.

My favorite salad combination would be carrots, zucchini, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, spinach.
Sometimes I will add some tofu, mushroom, quinoa for extra protein.

What's your favorites combination?
